You are here > Online Catalog > Gloria Plevin > Artist Biography

Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, July 25th 1934. Left-handed, stubborn, shy, only child for ten years, Gloria Rosenthal loved to draw and play with paper dolls.

Gloria grew up in the small town of Clarksburg, West Virginia, but Gloria (Rosenthal) Plevin was influenced by everything French, especially Impressionism, and all things oriental in particular Japanese woodblock prints. Her imagery is personal with close attention to human relationships, and all aspects of nature.

Artworks by Plevin are in public and private collections in the United States and Canada. During the summer of 2007 a Gloria Plevin exhibition surveyed fifty paintings, prints, and pastels at the Logan Gallery of the Chautauqua Center for Visual Arts, Chautauqua, New York.
