Shoson began as a student of Suzuki Koson. In his early years he painted flora and fauna. In his later years he returned to woodblock printmaking. Shoson was the most important bird and flower printmaker in the 1920s and 1930s.

Museums: Cincinnati Museum of Art, Fine Arts Museum in California, Honololu Museum.
